Abstract

This paper presents time delay of ultra-high-frequency (UHF) partial discharge (PD) signals in switchgear by improved bispectrum estimation approach. An improved bispectrum estimation approach based on empirical mode decomposition (EMD) is used to calculate the time delay among the UHF PD signals. Actual and simplified models of PD location in switchgear are simulated by finite difference time domain (FDTD), and a series of the UHF PD signals are obtained. In comparison of the proposed approach, the other two traditional approaches are also used to calculate the time delay between the UHF PD signals. Experimental results show that approachesthe time delay of the UHF PD signals calculated by the proposed approach is better than the two given existing approaches and immune to the white noise.
