Abstract

NHK (Japan Broadcasting Corporation) has conducted time budget surveys representative for Japan every five years since 1960. Earlier time budget surveys by NHK, during the World War gave us the time use data only for selected population groups, such as farmers, business managers, clerks, workers, housewives, and primary school children. As these surveys were conducted during war, the results were hardly used and the data are not accessible today. However, in 1991, the data of the time budget survey in 1941 was published by re-printing an old document.
