Abstract

Use of marker sutures in excision and direct closure of skin lesions is an unnecessary, potentially costly and time-consuming addition to a commonly performed procedure. We advocate reduction or avoidance of marker sutures in routine cases to decrease both economic cost and carbon footprint of this common surgical procedure.
