Abstract

Tbx (Fe50Co50)1-x films were deposited on glass slides using a DC sputtering apparatus. Torque measurements revealed that both perpendicular and in-plane uniaxial anisotropy components are induced in resputtered films with FeCo-dominant composition. The easy axis of the in-plane anisotropy component is aligned with the magnetic field applied during deposition. Torque curve analysis revealed that tilting of the easy axis from the film normal in alternate directions can reproduce the measured torque curves very well. In GdCo, DyCo and ErCo films, however, no appreciable in-plane uniaxial anisotropy was induced.
