Abstract
Tidal Light is a work for orchestra commissioned and premiered by the New England Philharmonic at Boston in 2001, under the direction of Richard Pittman. Subsequent performances have been given at Tanglewood’s Ozawa Hall, by the Boston University Tanglewood Institute, Young Artist Orchestra, by the Boston University Symphony Orchestra, and in Taiwan by the National Taiwan University Symphony. Its duration in performance is approximately seven minutes. Its form commences with an aggressively rhythmic character and proceeds through a series of episodes to a calm and spacious conclusion.
