Abstract

As social media becomes an integral part of daily life, healthcare organizations and professionals have harnessed these platforms to increase awareness of cardiovascular disease, provide education regarding modifiable risk factors, and to advocate for further research. Social media can empower patients to share personal accounts of living with cardiovascular conditions, and provide access to global online communities for peer support. Healthcare professionals who use social media must navigate engaging with patients, respecting confidentiality, sharing credible information, and maintaining professionalism.
