Abstract

AbstractPathological jealousy can be seen in all generations. It is known to be difficult to treat, especially in older patients. In middle‐aged patients, it is commonly treated with neuroleptics like pimozide but in elder patients treatment options are limited because of the adverse side‐effects of neuroleptics, such as extrapyramidal syndrome. The present study documents the successful treatment of a 98‐year‐old Japanese man who showed pathological jealousy using tiapride without any adverse side‐effects. Concluding that tiapride might be considered the medicine of choice in all kinds of monodelusional disorders among the elderly.
