Abstract

Ti3C2Tx modified with dodecyl phosphonic acid (C12PA) in OSP-46 oil has excellent dispersion stability and remarkable anti-friction and anti-wear effects. The friction coefficient and wear rate of P-M-OSP-46 were significantly reduced by up to 24% and 85% compared to neat OSP-46 at 100 N, 50 °C. The weak interlayer interaction endowed MXenes with self-lubricating ability. In the friction process, the interlayer sliding of Ti3C2Tx replaces the relative sliding of the friction pair. Moreover, the TiO2 nanoparticles generated by tribochemical reactions and Ti3C2Tx nanosheets formed a lubricating film on the friction interface, which have the effect of protection and repair.
