Abstract

75SeCN- is concentrated by thyroid slices of various species as well as by slices of salivary or mammary glands, rat thyroid tumor, kidney and liver. Antithyroid agents markedly inhibit both total thyroidal 76Se and 75SeCN- accumulation. The major part of the thyroid 76Se is present in a form remaining at the origin in chromatography from which it can be released as 75SeCN- by OH-, CN- or mercaptoethanol. It is postulated that this 75Se is present in the form RSSeCN.(Endocrinology 79: 795, 1966)
