Abstract

Purpose: Breast cancer is common, with a long prognosis. Adjuvant radiotherapy to the supraclavicular fossa (SCF) anatomically includes the thyroid gland. Hypothyroidism is common after high-dose radiotherapy for other cancers. No known dose constraint exists for the thyroid, with disagreement about long-term effects of partial thyroid irradiation with SCF radiotherapy.
