Abstract

Thyroid carcinoma showing thymus-like differentiation (CASTLE) is a very rare primary neoplasm of the thyroid gland. This tumour is represented by less than 100 cases in current literature.1 Despite limited research, CASTLE neoplasms are thought to be indolent neoplasms with a favourable prognosis, although cases of tumour recurrence, and distant metastasis have been reported. Here we report a case of CASTLE neoplasm with extrathyroidal extension in a 50-year-old male who was treated with total thyroidectomy. We will discuss the histopathological, immunological and clinical contributors of this rare and novel diagnosis.
