Abstract

Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) has been considered as an important factor promoting economic growth and accomplish development directions in Vietnam. In recent years, while global economy tends to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals and the commitments of Paris Climate Agreement, the influence of FDI on environment has been more and more concerned. In fact, not all of FDI projects have positive impacts on environment of the host country. The problem is how FDI projects can achieve both goals: bringing economic and social benefits and ensuring the environment issues. Attracting green FDI may be the answer for the above question, however, in Vietnam, attracting green FDI still have limitations. This paper aims to clarify the need of attracting green FDI in developing countries, analyse obstacles in attracting green FDI in Vietnam and propose solutions to enhance that kind of capital attraction in the future.
