Abstract

Switched reluctance motor (SRM) has simple structure with a winding only on the stator and not on the rotor. The costs are lower than other motors due to its simple construction. It is easy to implement a high speed drive system and both the torque and efficiency of the unit volume are highly superior to all others. The simplest excitation strategy for the SRM is generally described by three excitation parameters: the turn on angle, the turn off angle, and the reference voltage. A control algorithm would typically use the same excitation parameters for each phase, implemented with the spatial shift consistent with the symmetrically displaced phase structure. But, stator and rotor of the SRM consist of salient-pole structure, and torque ripple is big by excitation method of pulse form. The torque is calculated by current and inductance value. Therefore, this paper deals with current curve of linear switched reluctance motor (LSRM) according to turn-on angle. We analyze inductance profile using analytical method in this paper. Analytical method proved validity through an experiment and finite element analysis. Also, dynamic characteristic of LSRM experimented using DSP TMS320LF2406.
