Abstract

The 5th generation (5G) cellular network has already been deployed in developed countries like China, South Korea & the United States of America (USA) till 2020. But in developing countries like India, it will take another next five years for complete 5G network deployment. The advantages of 5th generation (5G) New Radio cellular system is larger bandwidth, better signal strength, better network connectivity, very high throughput (Mbps) and very low latency (µs) resulting in higher data download speeds. In this paper, a comparative analysis of throughput & latency of 4G & 5G cellular network systems is performed. From the simulation results, it is proved that a 5G networks consisting of 100 cellular nodes has a throughput of 2.43 Mbps per user as compared to 4G networks which has only throughput of 1.62 Mbps per user. Furthermore, the latency is also reduced from 0.35s in 4G to 0.022s in 5G cellular networks.
