Abstract

Summary Sand-control problems in existing wells typically result from improper completion techniques or changes in reservoir properties. While re-completion of many of these wells with conventional sand-control methods and workover rigs is economically unfeasible, enhance-ments to gravel-pack fluid systems, downhole equipment, and service capabilities have increased success and reduced costs in through-tubing recompletions, providing new options to the operator for successful sand control in existing wells.
