Abstract
Bulky, fragile, redundant, hopelessly old-fashioned. In this current age of 35mm slides and digital imaging, glass lantern slides are often considered both technologically and intellectually obsolete. As a result, many institutions have deaccessioned these collections without fully considering what these objects and their underlying images may tell us about projected photogra phy, and the underdocumented history of art education and library visual collections.
