Abstract

Pregnancy-associated arterial and venous thromboembolism continue to be significant causes of maternal mortality and morbidity. Many of these deaths are potentially avoidable by better identification of risk, optimal prophylaxis and management of thromboembolic complications. This review aims to describe the recent developments in pharmacological thromboprophylaxis and acute treatment of arterial and venous thromboembolism in pregnancy.
