Abstract

Background and Aim: Coagulation parameters in CLD are generally towards an anticoagulant state. However, risk of venous thrombosis and risk of procedure related bleeding is not predicted by abnormal coagulation testing. An altered coagulation test results to unwarranted transfusion of blood and blood products which can lead to administration of unneeded or even harmful pro-haemostatic factors. Thromboelastography(TEG) assesses the combined haemostatic potential and guide in transfusion in patients with CLD.
