Abstract
Estimating the average particle specific surface area in compacts made of bimodal particle mixtures by means of the linear rule of mixtures allows to calculate the threshold pressure for liquid metal infiltration into such compacts. Recent experimental data for infiltration of Al into bimodal SiC compacts are analysed using this approach.
