Abstract
The critical length for self-oscillation is expressed in terms of the ratio Γ of the scattering and gain coefficients. Exact functions valid for 0 < Γ < ∞ are derived and displayed graphically. Three regions of practical interest are examined with reference to earlier work on non-resonant feedback.
