Abstract

On the supposition that the recently observed dimuon events are due to charmed-hadron production, and that such charmed-hadron production is marked by the onset of a new scaling regime in deep-inelastic neutrino interactions, we have worked out, using the quark-parton model, some threshold effects of charm production, as well as an estimate of the ratio of dimuon to single-muon events above charm threshold. The results are found to be in very good agreement with experiment.
