Abstract

The photoperiodic response for the induction of adult diapause and that for the determination of nymphal body coloration were compared inPlautia stali Scott (Heteroptera: Pentatomidae). The former was an all-or-none response with a distinct threshold, but the latter was a graded response which varied quantitatively with the photophase duration. The photoperiodic clock in this species is discussed.
