Abstract

A three-wave resonant interaction for nonlinear excitationscreated from a continuous-wave background is shown to be possible in anisotropic optical medium with a self-defocusing cubicnonlinearity. Under suitable phase-matching conditions thenonlinear envelope equations for the resonant interaction arederived by using a method of multiple-scales. Some explicitthree-wave solitary wave and lump solutions are discussed.
