Abstract

A three-phase two-leg switching mode rectifier is presented to achieve power factor correction, dc-link voltage regulation and harmonic reduction. The proposed rectifier is based on the conventional three-phase two-leg H-bridge rectifier with two ac switches to perform unipolar PWM waveform on the ac terminal voltage of the rectifier instead of bipolar PWM waveform on the conventional circuit. There are four active switches with voltage stress of dc bus voltage and two ac switches with voltage stress of half the dc side voltage in the proposed rectifier. The mathematical model of the rectifier is derived and the control scheme is provided in the paper. Computer simulations results are provided to verify the performance characteristics of the proposed control scheme.
