Abstract

A common-mode voltage eliminated 3-level PWM inverter based on an open-end winding induction motor drive is proposed in this paper. The open-end winding induction motor is fed from both sides by two 3-level inverters. The 3-level inverters are controlled by space vectors having zero common-mode voltage, thereby avoiding bearing current and leakage current in the system. In this scheme sector identification is done by fractal approach and space vectors are represented in 60° coordinate system. The proposed scheme is validated using induction motor in open-end winding configuration.
