Abstract

The response of long thick elastic tubes to three-dimensional load systems is examined. Exact solutions for isolated and periodic disturbances are given. The analysis of shells and laminated tubular structures is also considered. The work is illustrated with studies of thin and thick tube response to bands and patches of radial pressure. The response of a laminated pipe fitted with regularly spaced ring stiffeners is also considered.
