Abstract

The adiabatic normal mode model is a full wave propagation model that is computationally efficient in the modeling of long distance propagation in range-dependent environments. Its usual formulation does not include bottom backscattering thus precluding its use in reverberation modeling. How to include such effects in the adiabatic normal mode model is the subject of this presentation; both theoretical developments and numerical examples will be presented. [Work supported by ONR.]
