Abstract

The localization of passive source in water is always the hot topic of acoustics. We used to estimate azimuth by using horizontal line array, and range-depth by using vertical line array. However, it is a three-dimension waveguide that the underwater signals propagate in. The horizontal and vertical line arrays lack the ability to localize the target simultaneously in this three-dimensional environment. This paper presents a threedimensional (3-D) spatial sampling scheme by using the Helix array. Particularly, the mode matched field localization in three-dimension Fourier transform domain processing is presented and verified both in simulations and experiments. At the same time, we compare the localization performance of Helix array and other arrays, the robustness of mode matched processing and matched field processing in simulations.
