Abstract

St. Jerome's teachings on the ascetic life form the substance of a florilegium subjoined to his oeuvre in PL 30 (1846; p. 311-318). Over the last century this work has been the object of intensive Quellenforschung; nonetheless a number of passages continue to cause difficulty. The present article endeavours to identify the sources for the problematic texts in question; it also investigates the modifications introduced by the anthologist himself.
