The study of the occult is popular right now and is even offered for credit on some college campuses, so it is not surprising that PBS offered a three part mini-series on the Salem witch trials, Three Sovereigns for Sarah. It was a wonderful production that most certainly will be rebroadcast, and it provides American literature teachers excellent background material for use in the sometimes dreary unit on early colonial literature. Three Sovereigns for Sarah tells of the Salem witch trials from the point of view of Sarah Cloyce, sister of two executed witches and an accused witch herself.
