Abstract
An isomeric state of 181Re at 1877 keV with a half-life of 11.4 μsec has been produced. The state is assigned a spin-parity of probably 15 2 − and decays by an M2 transition to a 19 2 + state which in turn decays through rotational members of a K π = 9 2 − band. Both states connected by the isomeric transitions are three quasiparticle states and differ only in the excitation of a single particle.
