Abstract
In this paper we have proposed a new Weighted Adaptive Hysteresis Band Current Controller (WAHBCC) for three phase Shunt Active Power Filter (SAPF). In WAHBCC, hysteresis band is adaptively changed in order to reduce the Total Harmonic Distortion (THD) of source current to a minimum value, while maintaining the switching frequency and switching losses to an optimum minimum value so the total cost of the system is minimized. To regulate the DC bus voltage of the SAPF a simple Adaptive Fuzzy PID Controller is used, where the gain of the controller is adjusted adaptively with the help of fuzzy logic controller. Simulation model of the three phase shunt active power filter with the proposed control algorithm under nonlinear and unbalanced load conditions are developed using the Matlab/Simulink and the Fuzzy Toolbox. The simulation results show that the WHBCC effectively improves the power quality by reducing the THD of the supply current to a minimum value and simultaneously makes the power factor almost unity.
