Abstract
A 50-year-old man had swelling, stiffness, and pain 2 days after the removal of a foreign body from the palmar aspect of the distal phalanx of the right ring finger. A three-phase bone scan was performed to exclude underlying bony infection. Distinctive changes on bone images and subsequent ultrasound suggested a diagnosis of suppurative tenosynovitis. This was confirmed at follow-up surgery.
