Abstract

Three new styryllactones, goniobutenolides A ( 1) and B ( 3) and goniofupyrone ( 5), have been isolated from the bark of Goniothalamus giganteus (Annonaceae). The structures were elucidated by ir, ms, 1H nmr, 13C nmr, 1H- 1H COSY, nOe difference, and NOESY spectra. These compounds are marginally cytotoxic to human tumor cells in culture.
