Three elements of urban design and their validity on implementation

Abstract

Methods to enhance the validity of urban design were researched through analyzing the issues exited in the implementation of urban design.Three elements of urban design,i.e.,conception,field of specialty and operational tactics,and their correlation will determine the validity of the science of urban design in China.The core of the urban design conception is focused on enhancing the environmental quality of public realm.Development and controlling are two basic professional tools in practice.In order to offset the lack of urban design institution,it is a realistic way to conceive an urban design controlling policy which possesses the characteristics of integrated content,full-scale pervasion,flexible extrusion,project checkup,public participation and so on.
