Abstract

Three architectural drawings of an unexecuted building in the collection at Audley End have recently been found to be by the architect John James, surveyor to the Fifty New Churches Commission, and architect of St George, Hanover Square. This article describes them and considers which of James's unexecuted projects they illustrate, concluding that they most resemble his unaccepted designs for the Foundling Hospital in London.
