Abstract

We report on local Hall probe ac-susceptibility measurements on an untwinned YBa 2 Cu 3 O 7 - Φ single crystal near the T c and for low magnetic fields. A sharp drop in the local permeability μ' is interpreted as the liquidto solid transition of the flux lattice. In the range 0.002 H L C 232 Oe. This finding can be attributed either to a lower critical point of the melting transition or to a reentrant melting, if one invokes quenched disorder.
