Abstract

The paper is concerned with the description and results of a three-dimensional finite element stress analysis of the proximal end of the human femur. The cortical and cancellous regions were modelled as isotropic continua having appropriate bulk elastic properties. The results are compared with previous theoretical stress analyses and in vitro experimental stress analysis.
