Abstract
Crack behaviors of RC cantilever decks, which often require special attention for bridge engineers, are studied. Because of the three-dimensional characteristics of stress states in the cantilever decks, a three-dimensional numerical model for crack analysis is proposed. It is based on a fracture energy approach for analyzing cracks in concrete. The effectiveness of the model is examined by comparing with the results of fracture tests. On the basis of three-dimensional crack analyses of RC cantilever decks, the crack behaviors and their effects on the structures are discussed.
