Abstract

A three-dimensional exact solution is presented for static analysis of a simply supported functionally graded material (FGM) rectangular plate resting on an elastic foundation and subjected to transverse loading, with piezoelectric layers. The Young's modulus varies in the thickness direction according to the exponential function. The governing partial differential equations are solved by using Fourier series and state space method. To validate the accuracy of this work, the present numerical results are compared to those available in the literature. The effects of two-parameter elastic foundation, gradient index, applied mechanical, and electrical loads on behavior of the plate are discussed.
