Abstract

By using a three dimensional continuum magnetostatic energy model, 2 μm bubble propagation error on asymmetric chevron patterns is analyzed. The calculation result shows that a bubble cannot be propagated from pattern edge to its top, but runs away from the pattern bottom under low in-plane field because of the potential barrier which appears on the pattern edge of the wider part. The potential barrier can be suppressed by improving the device design, such as lowering bubble material saturation magnetization and decreasing propagation pattern thickness.
