Abstract

The Western Ghats is considered the “Hottest Hotspot” of the world. The South Western Ghats (SWG) region has immense biodiversity treasures and is considered the center of origin of numerous plants. The members of Indian Detariodeae (family: Fabaceae) viz., Cynometra, Humboldtia, Prioria and Saraca, are endemics mainly confined to SWG, which are facing various threats. The documentation about these ecologically and medicinally important plants are the need of the hour. In this chapter, a detailed checklist with short descriptions, images, and the IUCN status and threats of Detariodeae members of SWG are presented.
