Abstract

This investigation probes into the nature of suppletion. that is. forms of morphological irregularity. In linguistic studies the theoretical basis for suppletion was created and developed around data provided by the classical languages. This article bases its findings mainly on evidence from Northern Sotho and attempts to establish whether and to what extent the concept suppletion is applicable to the Bantu languages.
