Abstract

Just 21 years ago, most of the human genome was sequenced, and in the past 10 years in particular, the application of molecular techniques to human disease with this knowledge of the genome has led to an enormous increase in our understanding of the molecular basis of many diseases. This development is especially true in endocrinology, in which knowledge of molecular pathology has increased at a substantial pace, as has now been shown so elegantly in a study published in The Lancet Diabetes & Endocrinology by Fanny Chasseloup and colleagues.
