Abstract

Heterotopic pancreas in the duodenum is a rare anatomical anomaly of the pancreas that usually causes little clinical manifestation and is mainly detected intraoperatively or histologically postoperative. Preoperative diagnosis is often difficult and easily confused with other diseases. Surgical indications are made for symptomatic cases or at high risk of malignancy cases. In this report, a 37-year-old male patient, who was found to have a mass suspected malignancy in the uncinate process, was described. The patient underwent pancreaticoduodenectomy, and the histological examination revealed the presence of heterotopic pancreas in the duodenum with no malignant lesions. The patient was discharged after 2 weeks with good results, followed up every 3 months. * Keywords: Heterotopic pancreas; Duodenum; Duodenal pancreatectomy.
