Abstract

In August 2006, the Committee on Graduate Education and Postdoctoral Education at the American Society for Microbiology (ASM) held the 2006 ASM Robert J. Kadner Institute for Graduate Students and Postdoctoral Scientists in Preparation for Careers in Microbiology at the University of Connecticut, Storrs. A select group of 27 senior-level graduate students and 9 early postdoctoral scientists from an applicant pool of 47 attended this intensive five-day Institute to learn skills necessary to succeed in academia, research, and nontraditional careers in microbiology.
