Abstract

ABSTRACT The article analyzes a Finnish anti-vax rap song “Tuku Tuku” (released in 2022) by likeminded white rappers and shows how the song constructs conspiracy theories by comparing preventative COVID measures, especially vaccines, to oppression, slavery, and genocide. Close reading of the song provides a deep dive into conspiratorial rhetoric within the context of two recent developments: a global pandemic and right-wing populism. The article argues that the song constructs a form of counterknowledge that relies on white ignorance.
