Abstract

The fifth Third World Theatre Festival and Colloquy, held in Seoul, Korea this past Spring, was hosted by the Korean Centre of the International Theatre Institute and was attended by 170 delegates and performers from 26 countries, representing four continents. Nine troupes from eight countries performed including groups from Bangladesh, France, India, Indonesia, Japan, Tunisia, the United Kingdom, and the United States. Thailand gave a workshop. In addition to the nine foreign companies, more than 20 Korean troupes performed a wide array of traditional and modern theatre which included performances of puppet theatre, shaman ritual and masked dance.
