Abstract
This symposium identifies various third party agencies, examines how their interaction reciprocally affects hospital policies and practices, and assesses their potential impact upon future provision of psychological services in hospitals and the relationships between mental health care providers. Emphasis is placed upon maintaining a holistic systems perspective that recognizes the need to establish an integrated multidisciplinary coalition to inform, educate and influence third party payers, policyrnakers, providers, patients and the public.
