Thinking thin: addressing the challenges of client computing

Abstract

Advances in technology, including improvements in IT hardware, 64-bit computing platforms, multi-core processors and the emergence of the ‘always online’ mentality brought about by improved broadband connectivity, have changed the way businesses think about the end-user and IT resource allocation. In addition, the rising costs of energy and cooling, in conjunction with space issues, have raised a series of new challenges for organisations looking to deliver a long-term and cost-effective IT strategy.
